The Perfect Man Premise/Synopsis:
Follows teenager Holly Hamilton (Duff) who is tired of moving every time her single mom Jean (Locklear) has another personal meltdown involving yet another second-rate guy. To distract her mother from her latest bad choice, Holly conceives the perfect plan for the perfect man ... an imaginary secret admirer who will romance Jean and boost her shaky self-esteem. When the virtual relationship takes off, Holly finds herself having to produce the suitor, borrowing her friend's charming and handsome Uncle Ben (Chris Noth) as the face behind the e-mails, notes and gifts. Holly must resort to increasingly desperate measures to keep the ruse alive and protect her mom's newfound happiness ... almost missing the real perfect man when he does come along.

Friday 28th May 2004: The Perfect Man Update:
Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear have begun filming the Universal comedy The Perfect Man with director Mark Rosman calling the shots. The screenplay from Gina Wendkos follows teenager Holly Hamilton (Duff) who is tired of moving every time her single mom Jean (Locklear) has another personal meltdown involving yet another second-rate guy. To distract her mother from her latest bad choice, Holly conceives the perfect plan for the perfect man ... an imaginary secret admirer who will romance Jean and boost her shaky self-esteem. When the virtual relationship takes off, Holly finds herself having to produce the suitor, borrowing her friend's charming and handsome Uncle Ben (Chris Noth) as the face behind the e-mails, notes and gifts. Holly must resort to increasingly desperate measures to keep the ruse alive and protect her mom's newfound happiness ... almost missing the real perfect man when he does come along. Also filling out the cast are Chris Noth, Mike O'Malley, Ben Feldman and Vanessa Lengies. Marc Platt, Dawn Wolfrom, Susan Duff and Billy Higgins share producing honours.

Friday 21st May 2004: The Perfect Man Update:
TV star Carson Kressley has been added to the cast of The Perfect Man that will be directed by Mark Rosman. Also starring in the movie are Hilary Duff and Heather Locklear. The movie follows a young woman who tires of watching her mother date idiots and creates an imaginary secret admirer to bolster her confidence. Kressley will play her confidant and the uncle of the young man who proves to be a match for the young woman.

Monday 26th April 2004: The Perfect Man Update:
Heather Locklear has been signed up to star alongside Hilary Duff in The Perfect Man. The movie is being directed by Mark Rosman and is being developed by Universal Pictures. The movie follows Duff's teenage character trying to find a mate for her single, romantically challenged mom, who will be played by Locklear. Chris Noth and Mike O'Malley also have been cast, with filming starting on 29th April in Toronto.

Tuesday 20th April 2004: The Perfect Man Update:
Chris Noth and Mike O'Malley are to star opposite Hilary Duff in The Perfect Man from director Mark Rosman and Universal Pictures. Noth plays a friend of the family who, unbeknownst to the women, just might have all the qualities they are looking for. O'Malley is one of the potential suitors.

Tuesday 2nd March 2004: The Perfect Man Update:
Mark Rosman will direct Hilary Duff in The Perfect Man for Universal. Robinson and Michael McQuown wrote an early draft of the script. Gina Wendkos was brought on to do a rewrite.

Friday 12th September 2003: The Perfect Man Update:
Hilary Duff is to star in The Perfect Man. Based on the life stories of Heather Robinson and her mother, Janet Robinson, the lighthearted comedy concerns a teen and her single mother.
