21st October 2004 The Polar Express Update:
No doubt this will be a huge hit at the Cinema this Christmas.
But I'm pretty certain that there's going to be nothing in
it for anyone above the age of 10. Which is rather unusual
for a Tom Hanks movie, especially when it reteams him with
his Castaway director Robert Zemeckis. It gets released in
the US on 10th November and the UK on 3rd December.

Wednesday 2nd April 2003: The Polar Express Update:
Production has been halted on Tom Hank's new film, The
Polar Express,
because of the death of his co-star, the Emmy and Tony Award-winning
character actor Michael Jeter. Jeter, who also co-starred
with Hanks in The
Green Mile, playing a condemned man, disclosed in 1997 that
he had tested
positive for the AIDS virus HIV. Studio sources say he had
completed most of
his scenes in The Polar Express and a stand-in will be used
for the rest.
 Sunday

gets his teeth into something and spins around like a dervish
and we all try to hang on."

Tuesday
3rd December 2002: The Polar Express Update:
Further to earlier news that all the backgrounds will be digital,
it has been announced that the characters will be digitised
to a proportion as well. The characters will be designed to
look like their voice counterparts to the point where a flashback
of Hanks's character as a young boy will be a virtual model
using Hanks' current facial and muscle structure combined
with photos from his younger days to create the visual look.
The budget is thought to be in the ballpark of $150 million.
Tuesday
3rd December 2002: The Polar Express Update:
Looks like Robert Zemeckis is planning major innovations with
The Polar Express with the announcement that all the scenes
will be filmed in front of a blue screen with the sets being
added in by CG. All the actors will be covered in motion capture
sensors so that each move of an arm, each flicker of an eyelid
and each wrinkle of a lip will be stored on a computer and
used as guide for the digital animators who will create the
actual movie footage.
Monday
30th September 2002: Polar Express Update:
