The US release date for The Princess Diaries 2 has been

Author of the first book - not the sequel film - Meg
Cabot dropped by Moviehole to let us know that she's
read the script and has given it the thumbs up.
"It's cute--has all the same zany charm as the
first film. In it, new college grad Mia goes back to
Genovia for the first since her trip at the end of the
last film, and gets a nasty surprise from the sexist
Genovian parliament—she has 30 days to find a
suitable royal husband, or the crown will go to the
next (male) heir in line to the throne! In the end,
Mia has to choose between her heart or the throne.
Chris Pine, a newcomer, plays Lord Nicholas, and Callum
Blue from Dead Like Me plays Lord Andrew."

Thursday 11th December 2003: The Princess Diaries 2 Update:
Casting announcements Callum Blue, Caroline Goodall, Sean O'Bryan and Joel McCrary to star in The Princess Diaries 2. Blue will play an English suitor who is set up to marry the young princess in the film, which also stars Julie Andrews and is being directed by Garry Marshall. Goodall will return in the role of Hathaway's mother, O'Bryan will be back as Hathaway's teacher, and McCrary returns as Prime Minister Motaz. Newcomer Chris Pine has also joined the cast in a supporting role.

Principal photography on the sequel to 2001's Princess
Diaries will begin November 18 in Los Angeles. The sequel
sees Princess Mia now living in Genovia with her grandmother,
Queen Clarisse. But a rival in Parliament produces evidence
that his son is the rightful heir to the throne, since
the marriage law states Princess Mia must be wed.Explained
director Garry Marshall: "They're going to try
to marry her off, but she doesn't want to do that. And
we have a moment where all the princesses from all the
countries come together to see if they can do something

Meg Cabot, the author of The Princess Diaries has been
letting slip some info on The Princess Diaries 2 "Garry
Marshall, Julie Andrews, Hector Elizondo, Anne Hathaway,
and Heather Matarrazzo will be back for sure. Filming
begins in November. They're still casting for love interests
for Princess Mia and Lilly. Robert Schwartzman-Carmine
will not be returning as Michael as he is busy with
his very successful band Rooney, and as the movie is
taking place in Genovia, the Mandy Moore/Erik von Deten
characters will not be returning either. The 2nd movie
won't be following the plots of my books, so though
the two Princess Mia universes will be diverging far
from one another with this film, I think the film will
still be super cute.”

in the movie, but
the band is taking up all my time right now, and I feel

Update:
A
sequel to The Princess Diaries looks to be looming on
the horizon. It’s
rumoured that filming will begin in November, probably
in Los Angeles, but
possibly Prague, with the movie slated for a summer
2004 release. Hector
Elizondo, Julie Andrews, Anne Hathaway, and Heather
Matarazzo are all said
to be reprising their roles, with Garry Marshall once
again filling the
director’s chair.
