Premise/Synopsis: Based on the life of former Miss America winner
Bess Meyerson, Queen Bess chronicles the former beauty
queen as she enters into politics, only to resign in
1987 amid scandal and allegations. Meyerson won the
Miss America crown in 1945, and was appointed as New
York City's Cultural Affairs Commissioner in 1983. Although
Meyerson was acquitted of her charges in 1988, she had
been accused of using her influence to lessen the alimony
payments of her companion, Carl A. Capasso.
