Quicksand is an indie thriller which was filmed at the tail
end of 2000, mainly in the South of France with some filming
in New York.
Quicksand
stars Michael Caine as Jake Mellows and Michael Keaton as
Martin Raikes. Quicksand tells the story of Raikes as the
head of the compliance dept. in a New York Bank. He has to
head to the South of France to investigate some dodgy dealing
in an offshore account and he ends up meeting Mellows who
was once a film star but is now a drop out, who has got himself
entangled in the dodgy dealings. Mellows is in the South of
France shooting a movie called Quicksand, hence the title.
The
director of Quicksand is John Mackenzie who has worked with
Michael Caine a few times before on The Long Good Friday and
The Fourth Protocol, bot excellent British movies.
Although
the movie has been shot it is currently struggling for a distributor,
with rumours that First Look Pictures may pick it up.
