Michael Caine headlines this drama, based on the novel of
the same name by Graham Greene, for Miramax. At the helm is
Clear and Present Danger director Phillip Noyce. Caine will
play an opium addict by the name of Thomas Fowler, who falls
for a young vietnamese women during the Vietnamese liberation
war from French rule in 1954. Brendan Fraser will play Alden
Pyle, a CIA agent who also goes after the young women Miss
Hei Phuong, played by Do Hai Yen.
The film has wrapped shooting and as far as we know is in
post production ready for a 2003 release.
The budget was around $30 milion and the movie was shot in
Sydney, Australia and Vietnam.
