The Warner Bros half animation, half live-action film Racing
Stripes will debut on January 14th 2005. It tells the story
of an abandoned baby zebra that grows up believing he's a racehorse.
With the help of barnyard friends and teenage girl who dreams
of being a jockey, he overcomes prejudice and self-doubt to
pursue his dream of running with thoroughbreds. Frankie Muniz,
Hayden Panettiere, Bruce Greenwood, Dustin Hoffman, Whoopi Goldberg,
Joe Pantoliano, Mandy Moore, Patrick Stewart, Joshua Jackson,
Michael Rosenbaum, Steve Harvey, David Spade, Michael Clarke
Duncan, and Jeff Foxworthy all lend their vocal talents and
film's web site is now hosting a brand
new trailer.

posted on her official site "I play a character named 'Sandy'
in the movie 'Racing Stripes'---the role is tied closely to
the main storyline (i don't want to give away too many details.)"
Monday 24th November 2003: Racing Stripes Update:
I'm from Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa where I have just signed up as an extra for the film "Racing Stripes". On Wednesday, 19 November 2003, the extras (around 2000 of us) went to the Golden Horse Casino in Pietermaritzburg where the final scene of the films racing shots will be taken to be fitted into our wardrobe and for a briefing on what is expected of us during shooting. I along with several other guys have been given our wardrobe consisting of a white T-Shirt with an American flag on the front, denims and hideous American caps all ablazed with the American flag...
This is my first time being an extra for a major film, and have set out to try document the events through my South African website www.racingstripes.co.za (obviously still under construction) Shooting begins from either the 24 - 26 November 2003, and will go for another 10 days to 4 weeks, depending on the weather. (Like it's going to rain here in sunny SA !!)
We have a fantastic crew from Cape Town who are the official SA production team organising our daily litres of H2O, light breakfasts and lunches. Our days start from 4am and will go to around 6pm. However, should we see the truck pulling up with the 18K light, that (as we have been told) IS the sun, and shooting will continue. (What about dinner !!??) I will try to keep the website updated during the rest of our adventure in the film business, with tons of behind the scenes pics. and stories.

Director Frederik Du Chau has signed up Bruce Greenwood to star in Racing Stripes as the father of a teenage girl, who gave up horse racing after his wife died in a racing accident.
Monday 28th July 2003: Racing Stripes Update:
The vocal cast for Racing Stripes has been announced with Hayden
Panetierre, Dustin Hoffman, Whoopi Goldberg, Joe Pantoliano, Mandy Moore,
Patrick Stewart, Joshua Jackson, Michael Rosenbaum, Steve Harvey, David
Spade, Michael Clarke Duncan and Jeff Foxworthy. Principal photography will
begin September 15 in South Africa. The movie is being directed by Frederik
Du Chau and was written by David Schmidt, Kirk DeMicco and Mike Samonek.
The film will be released January 14, 2005.

Just received the following on where the live action sequences for the Frankie Muniz voiced Racing Stripes is filming " the film is being shot in South Africa , in Pietermaritzburg wich is a small town about 1Hr 30 mins from Durban City" Thanks to Anon!

Frankie Muniz (Agent Cody Banks) will next voice the lead role in Alcon
Entertainment's live-action/CG animated family film Racing Stripes. The
project is the tale of an abandoned baby zebra named Stripes (Muniz) that
grows up on a Kentucky farm believing he's a racehorse. With the help of
barnyard friends he overcomes prejudice and self-doubt to pursue his dream
of running with the thoroughbreds. Frederik Du Chau is on board as director.
