19th March 2004: Reefer Madness Update:
Alan Cumming and Steven Weber have been signed to star in "REEFER
MADNESS", a film based on the Off-Broadway stage musical.
Neve Campbell will make her film singing debut playing a featured
role and performing 'rousing' production numbers.
Kristen
Bell and Christian Campbell (Neve's brother), will reprise their
stage roles for the movie version, as will John Kassir and Robert
Torti. In addition, Ana Gasteyer ("Saturday Night Live")
also stars. Cumming will play 'The Lecturer' a finger-wagging
authority figure who preaches to parents and narrates portions
of the film. Cumming recently appeared in TNT's "The Goodbye
Girl" and will be voicing a character for "Garfield:
The Movie" from 20th Century Fox.
Steven
Weber portrays 'Jack', the supplier. Weber currently stars as
LA District Attorney 'David Franks' in the mid-season ABC series
"The D.A.". He will also
be seen in David Ogden's upcoming thriller "Inside Out."
Neve Campbell
will play 'Miss Poppy', the singing/dancing proprietor of a
local teen hangout where wholesome kids indulge in "swing-jazz"
music. Toronto-born Campbell recently starred/co-produced Robert
Altman's "The Company." She next appears opposite
Christian Slater in Peter Richardson's upcoming "Churchill:
The Hollywood Years." Inspired by the original 1936 film,
"REEFER MADNESS"
begins production April 2004.
