The Ring 2 Synopsis:
Academy Award nominee Naomi Watts ("21 Grams") reprises the role of investigative reporter Rachel Keller in "The Ring Two," the sequel to the horror hit "The Ring." Hideo Nakata, the director of the original Japanese blockbuster "Ringu" upon which "The Ring" was based, directed "The Ring Two," which marks his American film debut. The story picks up six months after the horrifying events that terrorized Rachel Keller and her son Aidan (David Dorfman) in Seattle. To escape her haunting memories, Rachel takes Aidan and moves to the small coastal community of Astoria, Oregon, to start fresh. However, Rachel's resolve quickly turns to dread when evidence at a local crime scene—including an unmarked videotape—seems eerily familiar. Rachel realizes that the vengeful Samara is back and more determined than ever to continue her relentless cycle of terror and death.

Tuesday 10th December 2002: The Ring 2 Update:
Director Gore Verbinski and Writer Ehren Kruger are being wooed by Dreamworks to return and make The Ring 2. No word on cast or script yet.

Saturday 19th October 2002: The Ring 2 Update:
Director Gore Verbinski has been talking about the possibility of a sequel to The Ring "It would depend. I think they would only make a sequel if the movie was successful. I would only want to direct it if it was a really good story. I've not seen the prequel or sequel...Ehren Kruger's the expert on RINGU, so he knows all that stuff...I think what he'd do is grab from between the prequel and sequel and try to create something" Naomi Watts doesn't sound so keen however "Yeah, I would (return), I would always be nervous about doing a sequel, but just because I feel like I'm in safe hands - the DreamWorks people are really smart. We did a lot of script changes while we were shooting and we shot a few different endings and we didn't know what we were going to use and the way they played it out, I think, was really smart and I love the way it ends. So, I feel inspired and encouraged by that and hopefully Gore will be able to do the sequels, too"

Monday 7th October 2002: The Ring 2 Update:
Producers Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have been talking about the possibility of a sequel to the soon to be released The Ring "You know, the idea is to hope the first movie works, and if it does, it's a very challenging franchise to create because I don't think, at least in initially looking at the other RING sequels [made in Japan], there's an obvious story to take. I don't think any of them were nearly as good as the original. We hope the movie's a success and it leaves itself open to some interpretation for a second, but we would start at the beginning creatively saying, 'Is there a story worth telling?'".
