"Sahara" author Clive Cussler, creator of the adventure
character 'Dirk Pitt', has sued producer Crusader Entertainment,
a Beverly Hills company owned by billionaire Philip Anschutz,
for allegedly 'altering' a screenplay that Cussler had already
approved. Cussler, who has sold more than 125 million books,
is asking for $10 million in damages.
"Crusader materially altered the approved screenplay without
Cussler's written consent ... and has began to film a screenplay
which it knows was explicitly disapproved by Cussler,"
according to the complaint filed in LA Superior Court.
Matthew McConaughey has been cast to play Dirk Pitt in "Sahara"
to be directed by Michael Eisner's son Breck Eisner.
