Ned Zeman and Daniel Barnz, who wrote "Under and Alone" for Mel Gibson at Warner Bros. Pictures, have been hired by Gibson to write another starring project, Paramount Pictures' "Sam and George." It tells the story of the reunion between two lifelong friends after one of them (Gibson) spends 20 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. Lauren Shuler Donner will produce "Sam and George" with Gibson and Icon's Bruce Davey.

Dean Georgaris is to write Sam and George which will see actor Mel Gibson with his Lethal Weapon director Richard Donner. The Paramount film is to follow a man wrongly incarcerated for 25 years who nonetheless emerges blissfully happy that he's free. He is befriended by a lawyer who sees a huge lawsuit windfall if only he can get Gibson's character to face the fact that his life was destroyed.

Friday 18th July 2003: Sam and George Update:
Writer Dean Georgaris has revealed he is rewriting his script Sam and
George as a vehicle for Director Richard Donner and Mel Gibson. The movie
will centre on an innocent man freed after spending 25 years in jail who
gets his sentence quashed by an ambulance chasing lawyer. Georgaris has
described "The guy has become such a Don Quixote figure that he denies all
the horrible things that have been done to him and can't admit his life has
been ruined."
