Wednesday 26th November 2003: Seabiscuit: The Lost Documentary:
Legend Films, a studio specializing in restoring and colorizing classic films, has secured a fresh source of financing that will be used for the continued enhancement of the company's proprietary colorization technology for DVD, HDTV and theatrical release motion pictures.

Legend's current DVD releases include the 1931 film "A Christmas Wish" starring Jimmy Durante and "Seabiscuit : The Lost Documentary", an original doc produced in 1939 by Seabiscuit's owner Charles Howard. Legend has distribution agreements with Twentieth Century Fox Home Video.

Tobey Maguire opened the 32nd annual Eclipse Awards Dinner held at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif., on Monday night. A full report on the awards can be found here with a photo here He was asked what his impressions of the racing industry were "had a whole different respect for what you guys do" after being exposed to what goes on "behind the curtain" at a racetrack. "

An anonymous scooper sent us in a batch of new pics from the set of Seabiscuit which has been shooting at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds FairPlex racetrack in Pomona, California.

"Shooting took place between October 21st and October 24th, 2002. The production company temporarily transformed the grandstands to look like the famous Agua Caliente Racetrack in Tijuana, Mexico - circa 1933. Several-hundred background actors were used in the Agua Caliente scenes - each one wearing original 1930's period clothing provided by the John David Ridge Wardrobe House in Hollywood, California. The attached photos show the transformed grandstands, some of the antique vehicles used on the set and a few of the background actors in period wardrobe. The anonymous author of this report worked on the Agua Caliente shoot in October as a background actor and has been called-back for the Santa Anita scenes - to be shot in early December, 2002 in Arcadia, California. It may be of interest to note that the Santa Anita scenes supposedly take place in 1938 - requiring all background actors to make another trip to Hollywood for a second wardrobe fitting".

Tuesday 19th November 2002: Sea Biscuit Update:
'Crystal' sent us in some info on the ongoing Sea Biscuit shoot, which has just hit Paris, Kentucky. 'I work at a company called Prime Finish in Paris, KY. The Crew from Sea Biscuit was here at our Company setting up Friday Nov 8th to do some shoots here in Paris. They had the tents set up on our property all Weekend. They filmed downtown Paris, US 460 and in Carlisle, KY. I'm not sure how long they are scheduled to stay in KY but the tents were removed this morning. Tobey Maguire, Jeff Bridges and Jimmy Buffet were here at our company (outside)'.

Filming on the Tobey Maguire starring Seabiscuit has moved to the Keenland Racecourse in Lexington.

Seabiscuit has had its release date locked in as June 25th 2003 in America.

Filming on Seabiscuit has been at Hemet Stock Yard near Palm Springs, it was a race track during the depression.

Tuesday 15th October 2002: Seabiscuit Update:
Rumours reach us that Tobey Maguire is not allowed to ride a real horse on the set of the currently filming Seabiscuit. He isn't allowed due to the contract he has for the next two Spiderman movies. And to get round this they have drafted in Stan Winston who has made up a mock horse that Maguire rides on the back of a flat bed truck!

Saturday 12th October 2002: Seabiscuit Update:
Jockey Gary Stevens has been signed up for a part in the currently filming Seabiscuit.It is not yet known what his role will entail but I think it's a nobrainer to suggest he plays a jockey/films jockey scenes.

casting news today with word that Elizabeth Banks has been signed up to star in Seabiscuit in the only significant female role.

Spyglass Entertainment have bought the rights to distribute Seabiscuit internationally.

Thursday 26th September 2002: Seabiscuit Update:
Don't think you can show up for filming at the racecourse as a crowd extra for the currently filming Seabiscuit at Saratoga race course as it has been announced the makers are hiring all the extras professionally. Hmm sounds like there may be close ups of the crowd.

Monday 26th August 2002: Seabiscuit Update:
Shooting news is that Seabiscuit will be filming sequences at the Saratoga Race Course for a week in October or November.

Tuesday August 20th 2002:Seabiscuit Update:
Gary Ross looks to have signed up both Jeff Bridges and Tobey Maguire for his new movie Seabiscuit that is due to start shooting on October 15th. Seabiscuit follows the story of the 1930's racehorse who along with his jockey (Tobey Maguire) and his owner (Jeff Bridges overcomes the odds to win acclaim and honours. It is based on the book by Linda Hillenbrand and the screenplay is by Gary Ross.
