28th May 2004: The Skeleton Key Update:
Universal have begun filming their supernatural thriller The
Skeleton Key directed by Iain Softley and written by Ehren Kruger.
Set largely in the dark atmospheric backwoods just outside of
New Orleans, The Skeleton Key stars Hudson as Caroline, a live-in
nurse hired to care for an elderly woman's (Rowlands) ailing
husband (Hurt) in their home ... a foreboding and decrepit Gothic
mansion in the Louisiana delta. Intrigued by the enigmatic couple,
their mysterious and secretive ways and their rambling house,
Caroline beings to explore the old mansion. Armed with a skeleton
key that unlocks every door, she discovers a hidden attic room
that holds a deadly and terrifying secret. Peter Sarsgaard portrays
Luke, the local attorney working on the couple's estate, and
Joy Bryant plays Jill, Caroline's best friend. Daniel Bobker
and Double Feature Films' partners Michael Shamberg and Stacey
Sher produce the feature.

Joy Nryant has signed on alongside Kate Hudson and Peter Sarsgaard
for Skeleton Key. Bryant will play the friend and roommate of
Kate Hudson's character.

27th January 2004: The Skeleton Key Update:
Peter Sarsgaard looks to have been signed up alongside Kate
Hudson in The Skeleton Key that Iain Softley is directing. Filming
is likely to start in April in New Orleans and will follow a
young woman (Hudson) who begins to experience spooky things
in the home of the elderly couple for whom she's caring. Sarsgaard
plays the love interest of Hudson's character.

24th June 2003: Skeleton Key Update:
It has been revealed that production on Skeleton Key has
had to be moved until next spring after it was revealed that
Kate Hudson is expecting her first child. The movie will be
set in New Orleans, the story follows a young woman (Hudson)
who begins to experience of spooky things in the home of the
elderly couple for whom she's caring. Ehren Kruger wrote Skeleton
Key, and Iain Softley is attached to direct.

Wednesday 23rd April 2003: Skeleton Key Update:
Director Iain Softley has signed up Kate Hudson to star
in Skeleton Key it has been confirmed. She will take the role
of an in-home caretaker to an elderly
couple in New Orleans when spooky things commence. Filming is
thought to be starting this September.

Tuesday 1st April 2003: Skeleton Key Update:
Kate Hudson is in preliminary talks to star in Universal
Pictures' Skeleton Key, with helmer Iain Softley directing.The
project is scheduled to go into production in the autumn. The
plot centres on a caretaker (Hudson) working with an elderly
couple in their New Orleans home, which is subject to mysterious
goings-on. Universal picked up the project as a spec script
from screenwriter Ehren Kruger (The Ring) with Softley already
attached.
Tuesday
22nd October 2002: Skeleton Key Update:
Ehren Kruger, the writer of Scream 3 and the recent 'Ring' adaptation
has picked up a two picture deal at Universal, worth a seven
figure sum. The deal includes the studio picking up Kruger's
script Skeleton Key, a gothic-horror movie set in New Orleans.
The exact plot of the screenplay is unknown, but it is thought
to be adapted from a Japanese movie, like 'The Ring'. Iain Softley
(Backbeat) is in talks to direct. Kruger's other script in development
with Universal is an adaptation of Stephen King's novel, The
Talisman.
