Ben Stiller has been talking about the forthcoming Starsky and Hutch remake. Stiller, who who plays Dave Starsky, says the film is a tongue-in-cheek version of the classic TV series: "It was really fun, I had a great time doing it. Snoop Dogg is in it. It's not a spoof in any way, but it does take place in the seventies, you know the time that the show was done, but it's not making fun of that era It's as if this was the first pilot they did for Starsky and Hutch.and then they re-cast."

Juliette Lewis has been talking about the currently filming Starsky & Hutch
" "There are so many homoerotic overtones between Ben and Owen's characters
that it's just absolutely hilarious. Todd Phillips (director) did a really
great job casting the movie. Vince Vaughn is incredible as the smarmy
villain. I play his girlfriend Kitty. I'm one of those kinds of girlfriends
who constantly massages her man's shoulders. Leave it up to Todd to hire me
for the T&A factor in the movie when I'm SO not that girl. But since Todd
directed me in 'Old School,' he calls me his go-to girl, which is something
I'm proud of."

Thursday 12th June 2003: Starsky & Hutch Update:
Original Starsky and Hutch stars David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser are

Monday 2nd June 2003: Starsky & Hutch Update:
Just received the following set report on the filming of Starsky & Hutch "
Got a glimpse of some scenes being filmed in Downey, CA Memorial Day weekend in the main office building of the NASA site, the same place where the Apollo rockets and space shuttles were built. The site was vacated a few years ago, but has been recently been used as the location for Austin Powers, Space
Cowboys, and Spiderman. This historical property is also the current set for Van
Helsing. Two amazing sets have been constructed and there's a lot of "action"
being filmed, especially at night. We, the citizens of Downey, welcome the
film industry and are very excited about the future. Portions of these expansive
property are being retained by the industry and will be known as the Downey
Studios." Thanks to Downey Dweller!

Monday 5th May 2003: Starsky & Hutch Update:
Original Starsky and Hutch idol David Soul has expressed his outrage at the
decision to use new actors in the forthcoming big screen version. "They
ain't Starsky and Hutch and to cast them as such cheats a huge audience who
grew up with Glaser and Soul in the roles," said the original Ken
Hutchinson. "Their decision to make this kind of picture is an insult to
the intelligence of the audience and the real warm feelings S&H still
engenders in the collective memory of millions of viewers." He added that it
would simply be "another one of those bad, glitzy action pieces, like
Charlie's Angels".

Director Todd Phillips has been talking about his forthcoming big screen
version of Starsky & Hutch. “The movie takes place in Bay City today. It's
kind of the origin of how Starsky and Hutch got together," he says, adding
that the script "will update the concept and turn it more into a
straight-ahead comedy than an all-out action movie. There will be lots of
action, but even that will be comic."

Thursday 10th April 2003: Starsky & Hutch Update:
Reliable sources tell me that 70s blaxploitation film star, Fred "The Hammer" Williamson is set to star as the Captain in Starsky and Hutch. Only a hip old school player like The Hammer could breathe new life into this role.

15/3/02
Ben Stiller has been atlking to the London Evening Standard about the proposed Starsky & Hutch big screen outing.

'What we're going to try to do is update it in a way,i'd like to do a new buddy cop movie, because I don't think there's been a good one since the Lethal Weapons. There's going to be elements of humour in it and a nod to what it comes from, but essentially, I think, it should just be a really good action comedy.'

Stiller went on to confirm that Huggy Bear has been cast, gangster rapper and star of sucj movies as Bones, Training Day and The Wash, Snoop Dogg will fill the role. Owen Wilson is still on board to play Hutch with Stiller in the role of Starsky.

3/2/02

I guess you could say a Starksy & Hutch project has been talked about for
many a year, with the original stars David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser
continually being thought of as the leads.

Not now, rumour is that Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller are being lined up to
take the Starsky and Hutch roles respectively. Word from inside Warners is
"Fans should expect humour, but don't expect this to be a comedy. Imagine
two Martin Riggs from Lethal Weapon."

This however has rankled a certain star of the original Starsky & Hutch
David Soul "Sure, those guys are good, but they are NOT Starsky & Hutch. I
want a film that features them as they are now. 50 Year olds. Fuck the car.
Paul Michael Glaser and I were the stars. Not that piece of shit."

Obviously a bit rankled by talk of a remake being made with out him isn't
he? Understandably as Starsky & Hutch were super cool. Guess you could
compare a remake of Starsky & Hutch with the remake of Shaft a few years
back. That had impeccable casting but was still a poor imitation of the
original, could the same be said of Starsky & Hutch ?
