Friday 5th December 2003: S.W.A.T. Update:
Samuel L Jackson says the stars of the new S.W.A.T. movie were sent to S.W.A.T. school to learn how to play their roles properly. Jackson, Colin Farrell and LL Cool J were sent to S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons And Tactics) school for two weeks to learn their skills. "We got to shoot all those weapons with real bullets in them at real targets, so we could actually hit them," explained Jackson. "We learnt how to enter and exit buildings, how to clear rooms, how to cover each other, how to find people who'd hidden from us. Only problem was we had flak jackets on and all this stuff, it was like running around with a 12 year-old kid on your back. The one thing that they do that we didn't have to do is they have to run four-minute miles all the time. They had to run four-minute miles every week or something. We weren't going to do that!"

21st February 2003: S.W.A.T. Update:
A set report for SWAT has just been received " they
are filming a scene from SWAT in our small town north of San
Fernando Valley. The previous time I was driving to my childrens
school to pick them up and saw two helicopters flying side
by side. We do have a private airport in our town, but two
helicopters next to each other is never seen. Once I arrived
at the school, one of the helicopters looked to be in trouble
and had a large amount of smoke coming out of it. As it turned
out they were filming the movie and because of their close
proximity to the elementary school (and their dangerous copter
stunts) the principal called the studio to ask them to keep
the copters as far away as possible." Thanks to Linette!

 Friday
31st January 2003: S.W.A.T. Update:
LL Cool J (or his real name James Todd Smith) has been
talking about his role in the recently filming S.W.A.T. movie
"I studied with the S.W.A.T. guys, went to S.W.A.T. school,
did special weapons and tactics training, tactical entry,
weapons training, the range, the whole bit. You don't want
to mess with S.W.A.T. You don't want them to call S.W.A.T.
S.W.A.T. is exactly that. They come to swat the flies, so
surrender. Working with Sam Jackson, he's a very giving actor.
Al Pacino was very giving. Those guys, it's a lot of fun to
work with them. You learn a lot. It's kind of like being in
the NBA, being a rookie or being in your second season and
just getting to play with some of the great guys who play
the game and them just showing you all the little nuances
of the game. You really become a professional for real."
 Monday
20th January 2003: S.W.A.T. Update:
Dark Horizons scored
the following set scoop "I was listening to a conversation
by a guy working on the SWAT production. He was telling someone
about a scene involving a leer jet making a u-turn on a bridge.
He said that it was a real leer jet, but they had swapped
engines to make it drive better. He also said that they were
having problems getting a full u-turn with the jet, and that
by their calculations they would go over by six feet. Two
feet over, he said, and the jet's history. This is being filmed
in downtown LA".
Thursday
16th January 2003: SWAT Update:
Just received
another cool on set report, keep them coming, we'd love to
see some new pics as well!
"Last night, Tuesday, January 14, 2003, my dad and I
went up to LA for a
night and had reservations at the Hyatt in downtown LA. As
we turned the street to our hotel, the upcoming intersection
was blocked off and there was a huge light mounted on the
top of another hotel, shining down on the
intersection. My dad commented that they must be filming a
movie, so I knew I was going to have to find out what was
going on. When we checked in, the hotel gave us a letter warning
us that they were filming the movie outside, and that they
would be filming all night, so not to be scared if we heard
"gunshots" or the helicopter flying over head. After
we checked in, I walked back outside and over to one of the
corners of the intersection, at 7th and Hope, and just kind
of looked around. After awhile, I realized that everyone around
me was an extra. I had just assumed they were people walking
around downtown because even though the streets were blocked
off, the sidewalks weren't. A guy wearing a "S.W.A.T"
hat came over to me to say hi, so I just figured I'd ask him
what was going on. He said they were filming "S.W.A.T.",
so I asked him if he could tell me who was in it. He told
me two guys I didn't know, then Colin Farrell, Michelle Rodriguez,
LL Cool J, and lastly, Samuel L. Jackson. He said that they
weren't there at the time though and that they'd be back in
about an hour, "after lunch" (it was 11:15 p.m.)
Then he asked me to step back or I'd be in the shot. A helicopter
flew overhead, the cars started driving through the intersection
(where they would turn around and drive back after getting
to the other side) and a big spotlight shone on a guy running
through the intersection. Unfortunately, I had to go upstairs
to go to bed, but we did hear the helicopter all night long.
Apparently, they were filming from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m."

Monday
13th January 2003: SWAT Update:
Hi, Iwas going to get a bite to eat the other night, and low
and behold they
were filming SWAT accross the street from where I live! Anyway,
speaking
with a security guy, he told me they had just finished filming
a cafe scene
in which somebody gets their throat slit. He also told me
the movie will
start with helicopters hovering over a bank and the SWAT guys
jumping out on ropes with lots of gun shooting action and
a couple of cars blow up. He also said they were on day 45
of a 90 day shoot, and the movie is probably gonna be coming
out around the end of 2003, and not during the summer. 'Thanks
to Uvi'.
Saturday
23rd November 2002: S.W.A.T. Update:
'Jason' sent us in a few pics from the LA set
of S.W.A.T. Shooting took place on Hollywood Boulevard last
week.
'Thought you might be interested in this pic I took last
week (Monday 11th Nov) whilst walking down Hollywood Boulevard,
CA. Basically I was in the States on business for a week and
had decided to have a day off to check out the sights and
sounds of Hollywood when I came across a film crew that had
cordoned off a side street. Talking to a street cop, he revealed
that they were filming a scene for 'LA Swat' (the title he
gave it) starring Samuel L Jackson. In the scene I saw, they
filmed Samuel L pointing a gun directly at the camera from
the passenger side of a van. Anyway, here's a couple of pics
I took - Samuel L can clearly be seen in the blue SWAT jumpsuit'.
Here are
the pics.......

Columbia Pictures have signed up Jeremy Renner to star in
S.W.A.T. their upcoming $100 million dollar production. Also

and Samuel L. Jackson. The movie is to be directed by Clark

captured drug kingpin out of L.A. But here's the kicker the
kingpin offers $100 million for someone to bust him loose.
Screenwriter David Ayer has recently finished the latest draft
of the script. Farrell and Renner play Jim Street and Poker,
respectively, two members and close friends on the S.W.A.T.

9th July 2002: S.W.A.T. Update:
Here's a little casting news for S.W.A.T.
It seems two more actors will join Samuel L. Jackson in the
movie. Irish actor Colin Farrell (Minority Report) has joined
the cast and Girlfight's Michelle Rodriguez is in talks to
appear as Denise Sanchez, the only female character in the
SWAT team.
12th May 2002 - S.W.A.T. Update:
S.W.A.T. now has a star attached in the form of Samuel L.
Jackson. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will
begin shooting later this year. The trade also included more
information on the film's plot.
The film's story line centers around an arrested drug kingpin
who is transported by a Los Angeles Police Department SWAT
team -- led by Jackson's character -- out of the city and
into federal custody. Plans go awry when the kingpin offers
$100 million to anyone who can free him.
Updated : 26/7/01
S.W.A.T. has been a film that has been planned for a number
of years now. Arnold Schwarzenegger was to star in the film
and was indeed attached for a long time, but now he has left
the project to make way for a much younger, hipper cast. The
film cast rumour is that Paul Walker, star of The Fast &
The Furious is to star, but has not been confirmed officially.
Scriptwriter David Ayers has totally redone the script from
scratch.
The budget has been elevated from $40 million to $70 million
with producers hoping for a summer 2002 release.
