Alfre Woodard has signed to star opposite Antonio
Banderas in the New Line feature "Take
the Lead." It is the story of a French
emigrant who volunteers at an inner-city high
school. Woodard plays the school principal who
is wary of the lead character's methods until
she sees how well the students react. Liz Friedlander
is directing. |

3rd February 2005: Take the Lead:
Antonio Banderas will star in New Line Cinema's "Take the
Lead." The film is inspired by the true story of international
ballroom dancer Pierre Dulane. Banderas stars as a former professional
dancer who volunteers to teach dance in the New York public
school system. When his ballroom methods conflict with his students'
hip-hop instincts, he teams up with them to create a new style
of dance and becomes their mentor. Filming starts on April 25th
in Toronto.
