Saturday 18th January 2003: U Boat Update:
Hans just sent us the following information and an on set pic from the time he spent on set on U Boat "I basically started off as a German sailor extra, but then there came a point in the script where a "Young Sailor" was needed and Tony Giglio hand picked me out of the other extras. It was a pretty good featured part and required stunts during the depth charge sequences which was really fun to to do! The sets were very tight quarters, the wardrobe was authentic and it just totally felt like you were on a actual U-Boat. I worked alot with Til Schweiger, Matt Lindquist and Thomas Kretschmann. Everyone was down to earth, polite and talkative. The crew wasn't in a rush, they got their shots down and done pretty quickly. The shooting schedule was only for 22 days! I read some of the script and it seems very good. William H. Macy was telling me this movie will kind of have a "Das Boat" feel to it, not the typical "U-571" movie. " Thanks for the information Hans!

Monday 13th January 2003: U-Boat Update:
HI....well, I was in filming in Oct and Nov. The set was really cool. Very tight quarters. Macy plays Travers, an American who must help the Germans. There is a scene where the Americans must walk naked through the German ship. Also, meningitis takes over the ship and lots of soldiers die. I didn't see a lot of the script, but there is a lot of action and a good story. 'Thanks to Sam'.
