Wednesday 1st December 2004 An Unfinished Life Update:
Here's the first two promo images for Lasse Halstroms MUCH delayed An Unfinished Life. Filming on the movie was completed back in April 2003, and when the movie has such stellar talent as Robert Redford and Morgan Freeman you would have thought that Miramax would have been desperate to release it.....but when you see that it's main star is J.Lo herself you can see why they might have thought better and sat on it. But to all accounts she really does give a great performance in this so maybe this could be the movie that restarts her ravaged movie career? Find out for yourself in January.

Thursday 18th March 2004: An Unfinished Life Update:
A rumour is circulating that Miramax is looking at trimming J.Lo's part from Director Lasse Halstrom's. The rumour indicates that the makers are thinking that trying to sell J. Lo as a serious actress would be a hard sell for the studio to an audience. The script has J. Lo essential to the movie and it would be extremely hard to edit her out. A representative for Lasse Halstrom refused to comment and Miramax has apparently rubbished the rumour. My opinion is that it's all just malicious rumours, surely she'll be judged on her performance, if the role can get her back to the kind of quality she displayed in Out of Sight, then I'm sure audiences will be very happy to see her in a different light.

Just received the following update on Shall We Dance? and An Unfinished Life from H " Canadian Press story, I found in the Sun tabloid newspaper chain on Thursday (www.canoe.ca, I think their Jam showbiz section would have it.
It is datelined Burdett, Alberta and starts off:"Gas station owner Shannon Pahl and his family were the toast of this small Alberta community Sunday when Jennifer Lopez spent the day at their business shooting a scene for the movie "An Unfinished Life."
I imagine the story originated with the Medicine Hat News, though I found it in the Winnipeg Sun.
The Thursday Winnipeg Free Press notes that John O'Connell, who worked on "Moulin Rouge" and "Strictly Ballroom" is the choreographer for Shall We Dance. The paper has a piece on Sarah Murphy-Dyson, first soloist with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, being one of 16 locals who landed dance parts in the movie along with her husband, RWB principal dancer Johnny Wright.
She notes that the dancing in the movie is very different from ballet."

Just received some more info on the An Unfinished Life filming "Robert
Redford is J Lo's abusive husband, from what I've heard. J Lo has
gone to Vancouver tonight, and Robert Redford is shooting in the restaurant
(Nina's Restaurant that is) at this time. I hear they have until July 4th
to wrap this movie up. They will be leaving here in the next week or so to go

Just received the following info on the An Unfinished Life filming "I live in Ashcroft BC. Tonight J Lo is shooting across the street in front of the restaurant they renamed for the movie as Nina's. The old Central Video is now the Sheriff's office and a local real-estate company is now the US post office. It is now 9:30pm here they have been shooting all day." Thanks to Anon!

Tuesday 13th May 2003: An Unfinished Life Update:
Just received the following info on An Unfinished Life "It is being shot mainly in Ashcroft, BC which is in the interior of British Columbia. One day of filming has already been completed at the Ashcroft River Inn where they transformed the bar completed, but I'm not sure what to. However, only Robert Redford and josh Lucas were in town that day while J Lo filmed in Kamloops. Next week, Jennifer Lopez will be filming in Ashcroft for a month at a local greek restaraunt. All of the cast, including Morgan Freeman, Cameron Manheim and Josh Lucas are expected in town. It is also rumoured that Jennifer Lopez will be commuting by
helicopter between Ashcroft and Vancouver, where Fiance Ben Affleck is

Camryn Manheim has joined the cast of the Jennifer Lopez/Robert Redford
starrer An Unfinished Life for director Lasse Hallstrom. Also rounding out
the cast are Damian Lewis (Dreamcatcher) and newcomer Becca Gardner. Morgan Freeman and Josh Lucas also star in the film, which is shooting in British Columbia.

Just received the following info on An Unfinished Life " Jennifer Lopez and Robert Redford are now in Kamloops,British Columbia, filming. Today (April 23,2003) I watched the movie as it was being filmed. One location is Called Wizards Dry Cleaners, but in fact, the building is called Larry's Auto Glass.They say the movie is based in Iowa, but it isnt. I saw a few people changing liscense plates to the Iowa plate. I also saw a police car that said POLICE MARION. They are going on Friday the 25th to Ashcroft, British Columbia, and are shooting a scene at Spences Bridge. They are done filming at the end of June. " Thanks to Darrin!

Michael Steven weighs in with a report on the Canadian production scene that is heating up again :

Will Smith's big-budget "I, Robot" starts filming in Vancouver, May 6 to Oct. 1, with Alex "The Crow" Proyas directing.

Set construction has begun on Vin Diesel's "The Chronicles of Riddick", sequel to 'Pitch Black'. Director/writer David Twohy is back again with Ja Rule and Judi Dench recently signed. Vancouver's huge indoor set 'The Bridge Studios' is booked for the show from April to September.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard and Linda Cardellini are back for "Scooby Too". 'Scooby-Doo' director Raja Gosnell helms again. Filming begins April 9 to July 22.

Ben Affleck started filming "Paycheck" April 1, the script based on Philip K. "Blade Runner" Dick's short story about an electrician who has his memories removed by his boss. Director John "Face Off" Woo directs. Filming will continue until July 16.

Jennifer Lopez and Robert Redford are set to star in "An Unfinished Life" with Lasse Hallstrom directing.

Kurt Russell will star in 'The Miracle' based on the U.S. hockey team competing in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Filming starts May 3-29, in Vancouver and Prince George. Gavin 'Tumbleweeds' O'Connor directs.

Josh Lucas will star with Jennifer Lopez and Robert Redford in Revolution
and Miramax's An Unfinished Life, the Lasse Hallstrom-directed drama due to
start shooting in April. Lucas, who last starred in Sweet Home Alabama,
plays the romantic interest of Jennifer Lopez's character, a single mother
forced to move in with her estranged father-in-law.

Jennifer Lopez will star in Miramax Films and Revolution Studios' An Unfinished Life for director Lasse Hallstrom. The film is scheduled to begin filming this coming Spring and centers on a down-on-her-luck woman who is desperate to care for her daughter, forcing her to move in with her estranged father-in-law. Through time, they learn to forgive each other and heal old wounds. Virginia and Mark Spragg wrote the screenplay.
