Plot: A
remake of Open Your Eyes, the film Tom Cruise bought the rights
to back in 1999. Variety
have the exact plot; A rich womanizer (Cruise) falls
in love with his best friend's (Lee) girlfriend (Diaz). The
next day, he is in a car with a previous -- and fiercely jealous
-- conquest (Cruz), who commits suicide by driving the car
into a tree. The bachelor survives the crash, but with his
face hideously disfigured. Soon, however, his luck seems to
change completely: the friend's girl declares her love for
him and the doctors are suddenly able to rebuild his face.
However, when strange and horrible things begin to happen,
he starts to realize that his life has taken on a turn beyond
his control." Variety.

Vanilla Sky has had its world premiere
in Los Angeles. Attending were Tom Cruise, new love Penelope
Cruz, Cameron Diaz (looking damn fine), director Cameron Crowe
and wife Nancy Wilson, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith.
Cruise was quoted in saying;
"I'm so proud of this film. I'm so proud of what we
all did, everybody put a lot into it. It's a very special
picture." (from Ananova)

Weekly/ LA Times
Page created. Shooting began on the
movie back in November last year and wrapped on March 19th.
It is a remake of the 1997 film Open Your Eyes which also
starred Penelope Cruz. In this movie though, she does play
a different role. Instead of playing the best friend's girlfriend,
she plays the women who drives the car into tree. Now with
Cameron Crowe's movies, they always have a kick-ass soundtrack.
Just take a look (or indeed listen) to Almost Famous' soundtrack
and you'll hear what I mean, but the exciting news about this
project is that Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready is
on board. Pretty cool, if fact if I remember rightly, Pearl
Jam were featured heavily on the Singles soundtrack and that
one rocked! Anyway, besides the fact that this movie is a
remake of a pretty good forieign language flick, the promising
soundtrack, the excellent cast line up etc, the film also
re-unites Cruise with Crowe after the magnificent film that
was Jerry Maguire. Lets hope that they can relight that fire.
