Sony Pictures Classics has acquired North American rights to Pedro Almodovar's upcoming film "Volver" and also has picked up rights to three more of the filmmaker's pics. "Volver" depicts three generations of women surviving in Madrid and its lively working-class neighborhoods.

Pedro Almodovar's next film will be "Volver" ("Return"), which Penelope Cruz and Carmen Maura will headline. The generational comedy concerns three women who travel to Madrid seeking a better life. El Deseo is the production shingle, and Focus Features is handling international sales. Filming will start in July in Madrid and La Mancha.
