Kirsten Dunst has been talking about the training that
former Tennis champ Pat Cash put her through for Wimbledon

at first I ran across the court like a fairy.By the
end of it, though, I was whacking the stuffing out of
the ball. It was funny."

Monday
29th September 2003: Wimbledon Update:
A report from the filming of Wimbledon has just been
sent in "
Good shoot, and the sunny weather actually hampered
the proceedings, on set at the backlot of Shepperton
Studios.
The two tennis stars of the movie are battling it out
on the court, which I think was meant to be centre court,
but the camera-sweep only showed the reproduction of
the lower-tier. The scene is that one of the players
concedes a point at the end of a long rally...just as
the rain pours down.
Richard Loncraine and Darius Khonji ASC were looking
pensively at the sunny sky all day hoping for the clouds
to obscure the sun enough to call a take, and turn on
the formidable rain-making machine. The crane-tip is
about 24 metres off the ground, and the rain-making
'H' frame is 4 metre below that. Boy, does it spew out
the water. Most of the extras, 302 of us, got wet, but
most of us had umbrellas.
We did about 7 takes, and the extras crowd were very
good natured, applauding the hardest working extras
there, who were the ball-boys/ground-cover pullers.
Every take, these lads had to pull the cover over the
very authentic grass court. Very physical work. The
extra's were augmented by about 600 upper-torso dummies,
which were spread throughtout the stadium.
The tennis player dives in vain, sits disconsolately
on the turf, the rain comes down, and we all rush for
the exit. Mercifully, there is no Cliff Richard to sing
to us.
Shot last week at London Zoo, whose entrance was made
out to look like the all-England club at Wimbledon.
The real venue could not be used because of renovations
being done."
Friday
26th September 2003: Wimbledon Update:

It was also at Shepperton where Layke shot most of his
scenes for X-Men 2, with Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman."

Monday
7th July 2003: Wimbledon Update: Empire Online had a good report today
of the makers of the Wimbledon movie contacting the local Oxfam store needing
7000 items of clothing for the blow up audience they required for the centre
court scenes! Does this mean they will now be filming scenes at Wimbledon now
the tournament has finished? I think it does.Wednesday
2nd July 2003: Wimbledon Update: Kirsten
Dunst has revealed that she is looking to John McEnroe for inspiration while filming
tennis movie Wimbledon. The film centres on a tennis player (Paul Bettany)
who has lost his ambition and falls to a rank of 157. Then he meets a young, ambitious
player on the women's circuit (Dunst) who helps him regain his focus during
his last tournament, Wimbledon. "She's marketed as the bad girl of tennis,"
Dunst said recently during a break in filming. "She's very dedicated, doesn't
have many friends, has a very controlling father. She's very sexually aggressive,
very tough. They fall in love, he helps her and she helps him, it's very romantic
comedy. My character is very feisty, very angry. I have a lot of scenes of me
yelling at the umpire. She's like a female McEnroe. That's what I want to be."
To prepare for the role, Dunst has been taking tennis lessons for three months,
including instruction from 1987 champion Pat Cash. "I'm a quick learner so
I'm getting there," she said. "I'm really good at backhand, but my forehand
isn't very consistent. I'm pretty good at dancing around the court. The serve
is something I really haven't got yet." A number of set pictures of Dunst
have appeared online. You can see them by clicking
here. Friday
27th June 2003: Wimbledon Update: More information has been revealed on
yesterday's filming at Wimbledon on Wimbledon. At the start of filming the
crowd were asked to cheer Paul Bettany and his opponent Jake Hammond (Austin
Nichols) on to the court and also to celebrate the victory. The production
would not reveal who won or what round this was, but the scoreboard did reveal
it was a five set match. Paul Bettany had this to say "It was such a
rush walking out on to the court. I was so nervous, like nothing I have ever
experienced. The idea that people experience that and go out and play is extraordinary.
The calm they must have ... My legs wanted to buckle." Thursday
26th June 2003: Wimbledon Update: Filming was happening today on Wimbledon
that is starring Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst. They were filming this morning
at the tournament and have been given permission to film on centre court until
8.30am. A spokesman for the tournament said "The crew will be all over
the place. So smile -- you could be on camera. They are here to get crowd
shots and atmosphere." Bettany stars as a wild card entry into the tournament
who falls in love with Kirsten Dunst's character.
Friday 29th May 2003: Whiteout Update: Reese Witherspoon has been talking
about a pile of her in development projects to Moviehole
WhiteOut
: "Well Whiteout is still in development, so I cant
really tell you much about it, but Im a U.S marshal, Carrie Stetko, and
I have to uncover the first murder ever in the Antarctic, just before the sun
sets for six months. Carrie has to catch him before the sun sets, or she would
be stuck with him for six months in darkness!" Vanity Fair : Vanity
Fair is a 1820's period piece, where I play Becky Sharp ( a lower-class
girl who uses her wit and guile to make it through 1820's London society, as the
effects of the Battle of Waterloo are felt by her adopted family, the parents
of Amelia, her best friend from boarding school. When Becky is unable to get Amelia's
brother to ask for her hand in marriage, she is forced to become a governess at
a remote country house, where she is courted by both the elderly Sir Pitt Crawley,
and his roguish younger son, Rawdon Crawley .Weve already started filming
this. Its a good movie, so far!" Tennis/Wimbledon movie :
"Well, the movie is in development, and Im not too sure about it at
the moment..I go and play tennis sometimes, with my trainer! But not for the movie,
for fun" Next : "At the moment Im thinking of doing Daughter
of the Queen of Sheba, and Walk the line, who I play June Carter
Cash, along with Joaquin Phoenix. Unfortunately June has recently passed away,
so I would like to send my deepest sympathy to her husband, and her family."
Legally Blonde 2 : "Well filming is all wrapped up, and its out on July
2nd - everyone go and see it! - And its a very funny Movie and Im
not a funny person. Its a good script, Elle is in Washington, D.C, and has
put her wedding on hold, to stop animals being tested at a lab by a cosmetic company,
who include bruisers birth parents, who she wants at the wedding. She arrives
at the watergate, and gets help from an old door man played by Bob Newhart
