Monday 29th March 2004: The X Files 2 Update:
The second X-Files movie was long thought to be an utterly dead project, well it may not be that dead after all as David Duchovny has revealed in an interview "It's definitely happening. Chris has a great idea for the new movie and I expect we'll be able to begin shooting in the next year or so.I think we're going to be introducing a new character in the film which will allow us to cast a major star, male or female, who will want to be part of an exciting supernatural thriller. I think the new movie will appeal to both our core fans and a broad audience. I'm very excited about it."

Tuesday 2nd December 2003: The X-Files 2 Update:
David Duchovny has revealed some good news for fans of The X-Files, suggesting that a second film might not be too far away. "We're working to put together the next X-Files movie," he said recently. Gillian Anderson has revealed that things are moving on apace in developing a second X Files movie. She has revealed that David Duchovny, Robert Patrick, Annabeth Gish and herself have all signed up. This is what she had to say "Chris doesn't tell anyone what he's writing about, so we have no idea what to expect. But I assure you it will be something quite good. It's taken all this time, it better be. David, Robert, Annabeth, Brian Thompson who played a hunter and Mitch Pileggi, are all in it so it will be a nice reunion for us all".

Gillian Anderson has been talking about the possibility of more X Files movies with word that she would like to do several movies, one very few years to establish the series as an ongoing movie series.

Friday 25th October 2002: X-Files 2 Update:
"I think we're all kind of excited to go back and have a reunion, even though we haven't been apart for that long." They were the words that David Duchovney told the Associated Press in a recent interview. It seems that we may see Mulder and Scully back together again after all.

A sequel to the X Files movie had to be inevitable. I have to state right now that I wasn't a fan of the series. Not that I wouldn't have been a fan, just the BBC's atrocious handling of it made it impossible to grasp a hold of and keep following what did very intricate and involved. That was one major reason why the original X Files movie passed me by. So why am I writing about a sequel ? Well the word is that the sequel well be made after the FINAL X Files series. Which may be a lot sooner than you think.

Word from Chris Carter the creator of X Files is that the movie may even be released in the summer of 2004.

Casting, I will assume that David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will return, I can only assume that Robert Patrick will co -star.

Rumours are that the plot will not follow on from the end of the series, and be completely stand alone. Might this be an attempt to do a Star Trek with The X Files and have movie after movie ?

Rumours started with word that Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz had started work on the script last November which could tie in with the rumoured two year delay after the end of the final X Files series and a 2004 release. That would then match up with a late 2002 filming schedule for X Files 2.

That again ties up neatly with the end of the current series, guess we should start hearing lots more rumours on The X Files 2 very soon!
