20th
Century Fox is to make X-Girls, a fact-based pitch which has
Cameron
Diaz poised to play one of three Playboy centerfolds who completed
the most
grueling adventure race reality show on television. The script
will be
written by Mark Steilen, whose wife was one of the participants
in the
Eco-Challenge. The challenge is usually populated by ex-Navy
SEALs and Army
Rangers, tough guys adept at the challenge of being dropped
off in the
jungles of places such as Borneo, New Zealand and Fiji. They
use their
survival abilities and teamwork to cover 300 miles in six to
12 days over
rugged terrain. The centrefolds, teamed with one male contestant,
became the
first female-dominated team to complete the race. The film is
a female
empowerment comedy about women who, with the help of one seasoned
male
guide, overcome seemingly impossible odds.
