Tuesday 6th May 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Eagle-eye
movie-goers have spotted more than 40 mistakes in the new
X-Men
film. They range from disappearing documents and vanishing
bodies, to
glasses refilling themselves. The number of mistakes in X-Men
2 equals that
of the first film, submitted by viewers to www.moviemistakes.com.
(Spoiler
alert). One error comes when the President is visited by the
X-Men, he
receives a blue binder which later disappears from his desk.
In another
scene, when Magneto kills the soldiers outside Cerebro 2,
their bodies are
left all over the place. But when Nightcrawler, Storm and
the rest of the
X-Men come to the same place, the bodies have disappeared.
And when
Wolverine locks up Striker in the chopper, he just wraps the
chain around
Striker's chest. But when Striker tries to escape from the
chains, his hands
are tied behind his back.

Monday 5th May 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Mutant
sci-fi sequel X-Men 2 blitzed the worldwide box office last
weekend,
raking in a massive $155m (£96m). The weekend figures
mean that it has
already made more than half of the total that the first film
made.
Unsurprisingly, it leapt straight to the top of the North
American box
office charts, taking about $85.8m (£53.5m), the fourth
highest opening on
record. The sequel opened in 93 countries simultaneously,
and on more than
8,000 screens in the US alone.

Hugh Jackman has said he cant see himself playing
Wolverine for much
longer. The X-Men star said in a recent interview that he
would do another
movie as the character, but doesnt want to be stuck
playing him into his
old age. They don't really have to rely on the existing
format because
there are so many characters in the pantheon of the comic
book series," he
explained. "The younger characters, which Wolverine mentors,
could take up
the mantle and do just as good a job. It is limitless and
the characters
could grow up with the fans."

Tuesday 1st April 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
X2 director Bryan Singer claims he isn't worried about
the Matrix sequels stealing his thunder, because he believes
the two movies are operating on different levels. The sequel
to 2000's smash hit X-Men is being released in May and just
a few weeks later, the first of two follow-ups to 1999's The
Matrix hits cinema screens. But Singer says: "I think
we're in a different world than The Matrix, we're exciting
in a different way and we have different characters and a
different tone. We operate in our own universe. We don't worry
about Superman and Spider-Man and The Matrix and The Hulk."

Thursday 20th March 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
The production designer of X2 has been talking about some
of the sets and locations for X2 and possibly X Men 3....
" The designs for the Sentinels and the Danger Room have
been carefully archived for the next film. The Sentinels were
almost fully conceptualized and taken in 3D while the Danger
Room was half built on a stage up in Vancouver. We tried to
incoporate these things into X2, but there was just too much
going on in the film already and had we added all of the scenes
that we wanted to add, the film would have ended up being
4 hours long. So look out for the Danger Room sometime down
the line...I kept some photos becuase it looked really impressive,
even at that stage. I was sad to see
that scene go because I collaborated with Adam Kubert, the
genious comic
book artist who draws Wolverine on a regular basis, on staging
that scene
inside of the set. Adam did some original boards for us and
they clearly
showed how amazing the whole scene was going to be. Wolverine
is one of my favorite characters and this would have been
his big moment, his time to
kick ass on the big screen like no one else before".

Ian McKellan has been revealing sore more information
about the upcoming X Men sequel "Magneto wears his helmet
again but it has been cunningly adapted so that it has a little
more style than last time round. Same colour though. Magneto
flies and spectacularly deals with a life-threatening technical
problem -- but whether he does this from within the prison
or elsewhere would spoil it for some".
 Monday
27th January 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Alan
Cumming has been revealing some details of his role as Nightcrawler
in the upcoming X Men 2 "Nightcrawler's always been an
X-person, but he's not been in the film before. So they're
very, very secretive. I would have all this blue makeup on,
and they would make me wear this sort of cloak with a hood.
I looked like the Grim Reaper. I could sort of see through
it, but I would have to work from my trailer to the set with
this on, so in case of paparazzi in the trees, they would
just see the Grim Reaper. But then, an official photo shoot
that I did, the photo got leaked out. But I was squatting
and I had a hole in my trousers for the tail to come out.
You could see my underpants and then they were going to Photoshop
the trousers on top of the underpants. And that photo with
the underpants showing was leaked. And there was a big thing
on these fan sites, 'What's this thing with Nightcrawler showing
his underpants? Is he gay? Is he gay?' And then they're going,
'I always thought he was gay.' It was just the weirdest thing.
It was bad enough that even though I was wearing this burka
for months and now everyone thinks that I'm going to be playing
this gay super-hero with his Calvin Kleins sticking out of
his costume."
 Wednesday
22nd January 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Hugh Jackman has been talking about the upcoming X Men
movie "When this [hair] doesn't have two cans of hairspray
in it, I look like Moe from the Three Stooges. It's all just
exactly the same length. So it is me, uh, sacrificing for
my art. Fox has given [the movie] more money. The actions
is twice as good, twice as much. It starts with an assassination
attempt on the president by a mutant. Which leads to the situation
that every mutant is wanted, to be round up and registered
and corralled. And there's almost a war going on with the
humans. To find out more about his past Wolverine is going
off to Alberta and through the woods."
 Monday
20th January 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Production Designer Guy Dyas has revealed why he redesigned
Cyclops goggles for the sequel "I always hated Cyclops'
goggles...They looked like Princess Leia, with those huge
things on the side." Other news is that there will be
cameo appearances by Jubilee and Gambit. Beast and Angel,
and the X Men's Danger Room were dropped from the movie because
there were apparently too many visually complicated characters
and because the FX for these three were deemed too expensive.

Word reaches us that the ending of X Men 2 may change,
now it doesn't look like it will be a material change more
of an addendum with word that they may go back and film an
extra scene that will show the addition of new recruits to
the X men and this will apparently include Gambit. Personally
I think it sounds like something for the DVD.
 Sunday
12th January 2003: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Brian Singer
has been talking about Nightcrawler "Hes a very
interesting character. Once again, like Rogue in the first
picture, theres a kind of dichotomy to his character
that interests me; hes a religious character who has
the physical proportions of a demon. He has a unique power
that we havent seen before; he teleports, which is a
bit different from what all the other characters do and thats
always important. One finds when one explores the universe
that there are a lot of characters that are similar very often.
This character shoots powerful lighting bolts from their eyes,
another one from the hands, another one with a powerful beam,
another one with powerful energy or powerful energy blasts
and its always nice to have characters that are different
and that also exemplify the mutant predicament, much like
Rogue did in the first film. The Nightcrawler character embodies
that choice, and also serves the story, and is also a fan
favorite." Alan Cumming has also been talking about his
character Nightcrawler is very difficult. I get woken
up very early by lovely, lovely makeup people. You just have
to get into a zone where you don't mind people poking at your
face for four hours and spraying you with paint. I watch films
in the mirror, but it's quite hard if they're subtitled. Nightcrawler
has tattoos, which are very difficult to apply, and I rue
the day I asked for them. I'm hoping that, if there's a sequel,
a strange mutant accident will take place - Nightcrawler will
have no more tattoos and be white. The technology is incredible.
I'm hoping that the next time I could do Nightcrawler as me
and have them put the makeup on afterwards.

4th December 2002: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Ok, this next story was sent in to me and it is to be filed
under SCURRILOUS RUMOUR. Oscar-winner Halle Berry allegedly
told director Bryan Singer to "kiss my black ass"
(or as some reports sugget: "kiss my black ass cracker,
ya'll muthafuckers aint no thang"...oh sorry, that's
'Foxy Brown') on the set of X-Men 2.But things have been a
little tense on the set of X2 after Bryan accused the cast
of not backing him during an argument with the film's producer.
But get this: Singer was allegedly given a painkiller by his
driver that rendered him unable to finish filming. Producer
tom De Santo then threatened to fire the driver. But when
Singer heard of the threat he tried to get De Santo sacked,
which, according to an insider, led the cast to tell studio
bosses that 'if he goes, we go'. Singer then confronted the
actors and berated them...before Magneto walked on, mindfucked
the whole cast and crew before Wolverine appeared from out
of nowhere with a frenzied berkerker attack and the words
TO BE CONTINUED superimposed themselves onto Rebecca Rojimin's
eyes...or something. Either way, X2 isn't the most fun place
to be right now, the facts so far: Halle's walking after this
one, expect another X movie before the suits do what they
should've done to begin with, and give Wolverine his own film.
Tuesday
3rd December 2002: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Patrick Stewart has been talking about the nearly finished
filming X Men 2 "Eighteen months before we actually got
to Kananaskis (in Alberta, Canada), we started wondering how
the Professor was going to get to the jet. He couldn't use
his wheelchair in all that snow. When we emerged from the
underground prison, the three of us were in the lead with
Famke Janssen, Hugh and the others behind us. Halle and Alan
were dragging my legs through the snow. Suddenly Halle whispers
in my ear that she's sinking in the snow. The cameras are
rolling as Halle's feet go from underneath her and she slides
down, pulling me with her, and Alan comes down next -- and
the three of us are flat on our faces in snow with our heads
side-by-side."

6th November 2002: X2 X Men 2 Update:
James Marsden has been talking about the upcoming X Men sequel
"We're having fun, because everyone's shoulders have
dropped, a few inches, since the first movie came out and
it was a success. And now we're doing X2, and its going to
be bigger and better. I've seen the movie, most of it, cut
together. Its just a better movie. In the first movie I was
just getting used to the suits, and the visor. The suits now
are more comfortable, and I can see more out the visor.I think
the X-Jet is pretty cool. We had the X-Jet on the first film,
but it was this cramped quarters. This time it's much bigger."
Patrick Stewart has been talking also "I think I actually
enjoyed being in the oval office, most of all. Although I'm
told the set is 10 times bigger than the actual real thing. My
wheelchair. It's a wonderful piece of construction. I enjoy
being in it. I work in it a lot. Its the only role that I
have in which you know when the rest breaks come I get up
and walk around."

Producer Lauren Schuler Donner has been talking about the
upcoming X Men 2 movie "We needed Nightcrawler to draw

blue make-up, his versatility, his believability and his vulnerability.
The filmmakers saw the character as a symbol of intolerance,
one of the key themes of the comics and the movies."

Patrick Stewart has been reevaling some information concerning
the upcoming X Men 2 movie "The peril is a good deal
higher in this movie. (Stryker) is a really really bad guy.
He makes Magneto look like one of us. You'll see the four
cyborgs, three characters from the comic book, and another
character who only has a number, who has an impact on Xavier's
story because he's an ex-pupil." Co-Producer Lauren SChuller
Donner has also been talking about whether we may see Beast
"If there was a fan vote, he'd be in, everybody wants
him. When we do a Beast story (in X3, presumably), it'll be
a big one."

Shawn Ashmore has been talking about his enlarged role as
Iceman in the upcoming X Men 2 movie " X-Men 2 will have
all the excitement of the first film with some new and interesting
characters added to the mix. I also think that fans can expect
some amazing visuals and bigger and better action sequences.
I think that it's safe to say that there will be some continued
interaction between Rogue and Bobby. It's a pretty amazing
feeling to be working with a cast with this much talent and
experience. The first time around on X1 I really didn't get
all that involved because I was only around for a few weeks,
so to be brought back into the cast with a more important
role is exciting. I think the best part of working on X2 is
being a superhero for six months.

8th October 2002: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Director Bryan Singer has been talking about the upcoming
X Men 2 sequel and this is what he had to say "[Brian
Cox]" plays a general named William Stryker," says
Singer. "He's kind of an amalgam. He's not a religious
figure; he's a military guy. But he has a history with a lot
of [the X-Men] characters. He's a human nemesis from their
past. When they were emerging, he was emerging-in his own
way. For Nightcrawler, you won't know which side he's on.
He sort of gets sucked in the middle of good and bad".
Tuesday
8th October 2002: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Coming
Attractions have scored a massive scoop with an excellent
set report from X Men 2. Here's a snip but a ton more info
on their page. "Taking a well written page from the rusty
worn design of the Matrix's Nebuchadnezzar ship, Alkali base
looks and feels like a run down 50's style torture chamber.
Chains adore the walls, various surgical tools adorn metal
beds stained with blood. Remember Wolvie's nightmare inserts
from the first movie? Take it, use it, expand on it so very
nicely. This place is rigged for a mighty nice fight folks.
(From all degrees of mutant belief - good, bad, patient, intolerant,
psychotic)"
Monday
7th October 2002: X2 X Men 2 Update:
Patrick Stewart has been talking about the upcoming X Men
2 movie and things are looking good "In many respects
I always looked on the first X-Men film as being like a very
expensive extended trailer. We were introducing people to
who the X-Men were, to what their world was like, who their
enemies were and what their conflicts were going to be like.
X-Men 2 is really extending those themes and notions that
were just sketched in in the first film, and we're extending
them much more deeply. So, there's my continuing conflict
with Magneto and with a new enemy, a very, very dangerous
individual [General Stryker] played by Brian Cox. And, of
course, Xavier is attempting to hold the X-Men together and
trying to change humankind's perception of what mutants are,
which finally climaxes in the movie with a very strong scene
in the Oval Office between Professor Xavier and the president
of the United States [played by Cotter Smith]."

July 2002: X-Men 2 Update:
Well, production has kicked off on X-Men
2 and the first on set pics have started to appear online.
There are no actors featured, but this
site has images of a house used for filming, Boston police
cars rigged to explode and a massive gallery of storyboards.
Hit the link above to take a look.
Also, I hadn't got around to posting a link to the rather
boring teaser that appeared on the net last week, but here
it is now.

2 Teaser - Quicktime
7th June 2002: X Men 2 (X2) Update:
Kelly Hu, last seen opposite The Rock in The Scorpion King,
will play Anne Reynolds in Brian Singer's X Men 2. Reynolds
is the number two to lead villain William Styker. The role
of Stryker remains uncast.
30th May 2002: X Men 2 (X2) Update:
British actor Alan Cumming, perhaps best known for his roles
in Goldeneye and as the villain in the first Spy Kids movie,
will play Nightcrawler in X Men 2. This from Variety...
Alan Cumming has signed to play the newest addition to
the X-Men mutant superhero roster, playing a shadowy blue-tinted
superhero with a tail whose great gift is the ability to teleport
from one location to another. At the same time, "Tadpole"
star Aaron Stanford has been set to play Pyro, a mutant who
becomes part of the junior X-Men team. He has the ability
to manipulate fire.
Production kicks off on June 17th.

May 2002: X Men 2 (X2) Update:
The Hollywood Reporter say that two
new cast members have joined X Men 2. Dark
Horizons picked up the story.
Ethan Embry has scored the role of 'Nightcrawler', the teleporting
blue-skinned mutant in the upcoming "X-Men" sequel.
'Nightcrawler' and 'Pyro' are the only new mutants in the
next chapter, 'Pyro' was also recently cast with newcomer
Aaron Stanford ("Tadpole") scoring the part. Embry's
most well known role so far was as the lead in teen comedy
"Can't Hardly Wait", but has built a surprisingly
large career with roles in the likes of "White Squall",
"That Thing You Do", "Disturbing Behavior"
and the TV series "Freakylinks". More
here.
13th May 2002: X Men 2 (X2) Update:
Aint
It Cool News' Moriarty has reviewed a recent draft of
the X2 (X Men 2) screenplay. The script is dated 30th April
2002 and is the current draft as written by David Hayter 'with
a story by David Hayter and Bryan Singer, and current revisions
by Michael Dougherty & Dan Harris'. Here's a little snippet
from Moriarty's review and to see the rest click the link
above.
"Well, get ready, because X-MEN 2 is poised to take
the winning streak of Marvel Films to a whole new level. Its
smart, fast-paced, filled with page after page of superhero
action that weve never seen onscreen before, and it
manages to not only introduce new characters successfully,
but also fleshes out the mythology of the world and the characters
we already met in a deeply satisfying way".
8/1/02: X-Men 2 Update:
Bryan Singer recently did an interview
for CountingDown.com
where he said;
"We've not done any casting yet. But I am happy with
the script process, actually, quite happy [and] I think it
will be X2. Not X, to the second power". (appeared
on CountingDown.com)
2/1/01: X-Men 2 Update:
An update on the state of X-Men
2. The correct title is now thought to be X2 (actually X with
a little 2 very much like the way Fincher did with Alien 3
- only I can't find a little 2 on this program!) Fox have
stated that the release will be May 2nd 2003 with a shoot
kicking off in May this year (that's 2002 folks). "X2"
reunites all of the principal cast members of the 2000 blockbuster.
Also returning are the original's key creative team, including
director Bryan Singer; producers Ralph Winter, Lauren Shuler
Donner and Avi Arad; and screenwriter David Hayter. (reported
by Coming Soon).
13th
Streeet recently posted a brief outline of the plot; "The
story involves the appearance of the menacing 'Legacy Virus',
a man-made disease that is only infectious to mutants, eventually
resulting in their deaths. The X-Men must face the creator
of the Virus as well as battle the spread of the disease as
it vectors through the public."
I've also read quotes from Ian McKellen that state that
some actors that appeared in he original movie are contracted
for three movies. McKellan, who plays Magneto is only contracted
for two.
15/8/01: X-Men 2 Update:
Aint It Cool posted an article sent
in by a spy who sounds like he may work at Fox. "Perhaps
you've heard this, perhaps not. X-MEN Pre-production is underway
here at Fox. Storylines have come down to the Sentinels threat
and the emergence of the Legacy Virus. With the Sentinel's
story, I've heard the X-men will break Magneto out of prison
and thus, dooming them with the image of being outlaws. As for the Legacy Virus, they
have drawn parallels to the AIDS virus and the persecution
and paranoia it first caused when it came onto the scene.
Naturally, this leads to persecution and paranoia of mutants
just as AIDS did for homosexuals back in the day".
Hmm
interesting, here's
the full article.

More news from the San Diego Comic Con. CountingDown.com
have posted a promo poster that was produced for the show.
Updated : 4/7/01:
X-Men 2 Update:
The sequel to the hugley popular X Men was planned from the
start, as too is a third movie in the series. We know that
most of the original cast members signed a two-movie deal
before they started work on the first movie and also returning
to direct will be Usual Suspects director Bryan Singer.
The first X Men movie, as I said, was extremely sucessful
and there's no doubt as to why the sequel is moving ahead,
possibly for a late 2002 release in the States.
Bryan Singer has said that he has started work on the screenplay,
but two other writers, David Hayter and Zak Penn, have already
submitted treatments. The plot is still unknown, but as most
of the original cast will return, we take it that each of
their characters will too. Among the characters hoping to
make an appearence will be Beast (actor Jon Favereau has expressed
his interest and at one point The Rock was attached).
The only other bit of news that I know at the moment is that
filming is hinted to begin in January or February of 2002.
More news as and when!
