Warner Brothers and Billy Gerber is to remake the 1975 film The Yakuza to be scripted by Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell. The original was directed and produced by Sydney Pollack and starred Robert Mitchum as a man who returns to Japan after a lengthy absence to rescue a friend's kidnapped daughter, ensuing in samurai swords slashing and guns blazing.

Busy boy Steven Seagel will star in 'The Yakuza' for Warner
Brothers. "Yakuza" is a remake and was originally
scripted by Paul Schrader and Robert Towne and directed by
Sydney Pollack. It starred Robert Mitchum and merged Japanese
lore with the saga of gangsters kidnapping the daughter of
an L.A. shipping magnate. Seagel will net $4 million for the
movie according to Variety.
