Typical
gore-fest is plagued with bad special effects and worse acting.
For years it seems
as though there have been many filmmakers trying very hard to
replace Ed Wood as the worst director in the history of film.
Alien 3000 may not be a winner in this category, but it certainly
is in the running. The tagline for the film is “A new
breed of predator”, which is convenient because Predator
is the exact film that this movie about invisible aliens in
the forest is mimicking. Very unsuccessfully so.
When three college
students find gold in a cave they think it is their lucky day,
until they have their heads torn off and stomachs opened. After
these attacks the government realizes that they have institutionalized
a woman unjustly after she claimed to have seen her friends
killed in the same way. Thinking that she can help lead them
to the area where the gold is held, they release her into the
hands of a rogue military unit. Some of them are going along
for the hunt, but most want to find the gold.
As soon as they
find the gold a few of the greedy members of the team decide
to scheme a way to keep it all for themselves. They never get
the chance to follow through with their plans because the alien
appears and begins killing everyone for them. The murders are
quick because the alien is invisible. If only the deaths were
invisible, but alas we must witness them in all of their gory
glory.
It seems as though
a great deal of effort was put into the cover of the DVD in
another attempt to make the film look better than it actually
is, if only to swindle a few dollars out of any gullible video
renters. The film is shown in full screen ratio and has a creature
interview under the special features. There is no need to say
anything more about this film except that I pity anyone who
attempts to sit through it.
