Lilo
& Stitch DVD Review:
The Movie
The tale
of a young girl's encounter with the galaxy's most wanted
extraterrestrial. Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts
a small ugly 'dog', whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be
the perfect pet if he werent a genetic experiment that
escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on earth. Through
her faith and unwavering belief in "ohana" (the
Hawaiian concept of family), Lilo helps unlock Stitch's heart
and gives him the one thing he wasn't designed to have--the
ability to love.
The Video
Lilo &
Stitch appears in an aspect ratio of 1.66:1 on this single-sided,
dual-layered DVD; the image has been enhanced for 16X9 televisions.
The DVD presentation of this film is absolutely a visual masterpiece.
Sharpness was remarkable. The filmed remained crisp and distinctive.
No signs of jagged edges as well as no signs of edge enhancement.
There were no signs of any print flaws, Lilo & Stitch
came across clean and unmarked from start to finish. The colors
looked astounding. Black levels were exceedingly deep and
solid, and shadow detail was also solid. By and large, Lilo
& Stitch offered brilliant image quality.
The Audio
Lilo &
Stitch is presented in a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack mix.
Much of the movie supported the front channels, but once the
action scenes occurred the films digital mix opened
up well. Audio quality seemed was decisive. Dialogue always
came across natural. I detected no concerns related to edginess.
The music score was bright and energetic. The effects provided
a strong bass response. In general, the audio mix worked well
for the film, providing Lilo & Stitch with a lively Dolby
Digital 5.1 mix.

Overall
Lilo &
Stitch provided an entertaining and clever piece of work.
The DVD gives us superb picture along with very excellent
sound that worked well for this film, dont forget about
the small but reasonable roster of extras. Rumor has it that
a Collectors Edition of the film may be released sometime
next year, and if thats the case, Im sure the
DVD will provide a new DTS track as well as additional extras.
For now, this DVD presentation is a good appetizer and comes
highly recommend for all ages.
