Serial Slayer DVD Review:

From
the very beginning of the film it is easy to recognize the actors
involved in the making of this film, and for a fleeting moment
it almost seems as though it has a chance of being halfway decent.
From there everything goes downhill. Serial Slayer ends up being
one of the worst horror movies that I have ever seen, and that
is coming from an avid horror fan.
When three
young women get together to have a slumber party, a serial killer
who has been terrorizing the neighborhood, and has now camped
out on their roof disturbs their plans. Apparently he kills
his victims by getting on their roof somehow and then shooting
them with a crossbow when they come outside.
It’s
difficult to know where to begin with a film like this. It would
be easy to start with the bad digital video that it was shot
on, or the overacting, under-acting, and just bad acting from
the actors, but there is so much more wrong with Serial Slayer.
Nothing is ever explained that should be for the film to have
any common sense to it. How is it that he is getting onto the
rooftops in the first place? Why is it that nobody notices a
man in all black, wearing a mask, and holding a crossbow on
the rooftops in their neighborhood? And the biggest question
of all is why every killing takes place in the middle of the
day in broad daylight.
Even while
watching terrible films it seems like there are always some
redeeming values which make it entertaining if only very slightly.
In the case of Serial Slayer I was forced to think for a long
time before I could think of anything worthwhile. The fact is
that the only reason anyone should watch this film is if they
are in the mood to laugh at how ridiculous every moment is.
I feel an obligation to leave out the names of the actors involved
because this is a blemish on all of their fairly decent careers.
The DVD
contains a few bells and whistles, but I don’t even feel
that it is worth going into. The bottom line is that there is
no reason to even watch the film much less listen to the director’s
commentary.
