Who’s that Girl Movie Review:

Claiming an attempt to make the most fun out of the month with the fewest days, Warner Home Video has released six comedies which have never been released on DVD. They are all at least fifteen years old, and feature actors who are famous for other films. These six films are lesser known, and in many ways less remarkable, but they are all light viewing and worth viewing. Who’s That Girl features Madonna in her young role as an ex-convict. Although this might sound horrible, it’s actually far more ridiculous than I ever could have imagined. Along with a large rare cat and numerous other oddities including Madonna’s accent which hasn’t been matched since Waters’ Cry Baby.

The soon to be son-in-law of the boss at a large corporation is sent on a mysterious errand to pick up a convict from jail and make sure that she gets  on a bus back home. He finds that keeping track of her is far more difficult than he could imagine. She isn’t exactly done with crime, and she is probably the world’s worst driver, but her spirits are never dampened even slightly. She seems to be in her own world, and it’s a drug coated world of peppiness.

Madonna is annoying as the title character, even though she is supposed to be endearing. It is understandable why this film has fallen out of the public’s eyes in the time since its release. Other of the films in this group of new releases are actually quite good but have just been neglected on DVD until now, but Who’s That Girl probably would have been fine spending a little more time on the shelves of Warner Brother’s vault. The slapstick attempts at humor are obvious and absurd in ways that are more annoying than even I could have imagined.

All of the films in the set of new releases are just lucky to be released on DVD for the first time because of their obscure nature and special features is far too much to expect. There is a trailer of the film and nothing else. The quality of the film is even sub-par, although I imagine it is a great improvement of the film from any other versions floating around on VHS.
