Tuesday
11th May 2004: Fahrenheit 911 Update:
Michael Moore has answered criticism that he was using the controversy
over Disney's refusal to distribute Fahrenheit 911 but crucially
he agrees that Disney refused to distribute the movie last year
"except that Disney kept sending us all that money [$6
million] to make the movie. Miramax [told me] there was no problem.
I got the idea that everything was fine." Responding to
Disney Chairman Michael Eisner's claim that Disney could not
distribute "a partisan political film that may offend some
of our customers," Moore observed that in 1998 Disney distributed
his own "very partisan movie" called The Big One.
As for the charge that his comments represented a publicity
stunt, Moore replied: "Let me tell you something: NO filmmaker
wants to go through this kind of controversy. It does NOT sell
tickets (I can cite many examples of movies who have had to
change distributors at the last minute and all have failed).
I made this movie so people could see it as soon as possible.
This is a huge and unwanted distraction." Since when has
PR hype of this kind and for a movie of this nature have ever
affected it? Getting the idea that all is fine is a lot different
from it actually being OK. Should Moore not have had a contract
drawn up for the distribution, I've never seen a movie released
that didn't have the distribution rights written up in a contract!

of Iron. Confirming rumors first reported last fall,
Warner Brothers and writer-director John Milius have
indeed settled on wrestler-actor Paul Michael
Levesque, a.k.a. Triple H, to play Robert E. Howard's
barbarian hero. It should be noted, however, that it
isn't a done deal just yet."

The White Witch in Disney and Walden Media's adaptation of C.S.
Lewis's classic The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Previous

Swinton.

It has been revealed that Danny Dyer and Vinnie Jones have been
signed up to star in a movie to be called The Other Half. The
movie follows a young couple on honeymoon in Portugal, which
just happens to coincide with the Euro 2004 football championships.
Danny Dyer had this to say about the movie "It's about
a guy who takes his new wife on honeymoon to Portugal so he
can watch the football. The script really depends on how well
England do. If we progress quite far then the film will go with
that. Otherwise, I'll be all sad in the film. I play a really
nice character for once. I want to show a sweet side of me,
without any violence, for a change." Nice? Taking your
wife on honeymoon to a football championship, more like selfish
git!

One thing that caught my eye about the guidelines is that Milla
Jovovich's name has a lot of conditions tied to it in connection
with poster, her star power must be increasing if the following
condition must be met on the poster "Her name must be at
least 1/5 the size of the title treatment. Her name must appear
if any other cast member's name is used in conjunction with
the artwork title. In addition, her name must be in first position
among the cast members."
