Deuce
Bigalow, Male Gigolo Movie Review:
Deuce
Bigalow: Male Gigolo is a stupid and pointless comedic film.
Deuce Bigalow (Schneider) is an aquarium cleaner with no
personal life. He is always a strikeout with women; however,
Deuce gets a boast when a male gigolo named Antoine (Fehr)
leaves Deuce in charge of his beautiful apartment. After
accidentally causes thousands of dollars worth of damage
to Antoine's place, Deuce begins getting calls from Antoine's
lonely clients. Deuce then hooks up with a "man-whore" pimp
named T.J. (Griffin), who talks him into pleasuring women
for money. Deuce begins to visit tall, fat, and profane
women for his new job. Deuce then falls in love with a recent
college graduate, Kate (Bareikis). Deuce suddenly wants
out of the whoring business, but he still has to somehow
pay for the wreckage to Antoine's place.
Deuce
Bigalow: Male Gigolo is a failed attempt by Rob Schneider
to breakthrough as a lead comedic movie star. The film ends
up being very stale and dumb.
Schneider
and Harris Goldberg wrote Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo. The
script does have a few laughs, but overall the script is
poorly written for the film's intention. The writers try
to hard to blend in a dramatic love relationship into a
nutty comedy.
In
my opinion, Rob Schneider is a hilarious talent, it is just
that Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo wasn't his film. Schneider
developed many funny and unforgettable characters while
he was on Saturday Night Live, and I believe that Schneider
will not have any trouble bouncing back after this film.
The real embarrassment in the movie is William Forsythe.
Forsythe plays an obsessed cop who wants Deuce to help him
get Antoine arrested. Forsythe is really awful, he just
can't do much of anything as of late. He tried earlier this
year to do another comedic film, Blue Streak, in which he
was also terrible. He has had a couple of good performances
in his career, like in Things to do in Denver When You're
Dead and The Rock. Maybe Forsythe should try some independent
drama.
Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo is one of those absurd and pointless
films that will probably make decent money. The reason this
film will be a hit is because current moviegoers flock to
dumb comedies like this one. I admit that I laughed a few
times, but I didn't care for this film at all.
