Eight Legged Freaks Movie Review:


If you have seen those old silly movies where gigantic size insects attack people then you have an idea about the experience you will have watching the sci-fi comedy Eight Legged Freaks.

The title says it all. It’s about spiders gone bonkers mad. Can you believe it? One barrel full of toxic chemicals falls off a truck infecting a variety of spiders and causes them to grow to gigantic sizes. And I don’t mean double their original size but more like human proportions and even bigger.

Furthermore, they are not the friendly type either. These spiders are vicious and are on the attack feeding on the people of a small town.To the rescue comes sweet but dense Chris McCormack (David Arquette) who teams with his old flame, the pretty Sheriff Sam Parker (Kari Wuhrer) and her insect expert young son Sam (Scott Terra).

So many spiders and so little time to figure out how to stop them from eating everybody all you can eat buffet style. These stubborn creepy crawlers with Godzilla size appetites for destruction just won’t stop their assault on this little community already hit by economic woes.

This movie makes fun of itself as it tries to scare you a little and perhaps make you squirm at same time. You got plenty of stereotypes like the bonehead deputy and the corrupt mayor. The special effects are mediocre at best you’ll find it very hard to believe anything you see on the screen.

With plenty of nonsense throughout, you will need to recharge your I.Q. after watching even five minutes of this movie let alone the whole thing.
Director Ellory Elkayem gives you lots of corny jokes and foolish mayhem that become redundant quickly.

In order to really enjoy Eight Legged Freaks you will have to be in a very stupid brainless mood to say the least. Otherwise, the only thing you’ll have to decide is whether to run for your life or run from this movie.
