M.I.B.
II Movie Review:
They
are back. The men in black. And ready to kick some bad alien
scum where it hurts in the sci fi action comedy sequel Men
In Black 2. Agent Kay (Tommy Lee Jones) and Agent Jay (Will
Smith) are at it again cause there is a new monster from
outer space plotting to destroy earth.
The
evil Serleena (Lara Flynn Boyle), a Kylothian has arrived
and has disguised herself as a sexy lingerie model. In reality
she is a powerful adversary with multiple snake like tentacles
ready to devour anybody who gets in her way.
Her
side kick is an irritating sleazy two headed freak named
Scrad/Charlie (Johnny Knoxville) who has a regular size
had and a smaller twin head that comes out of his backpack.
After
Kay left the agency to work as a postmaster in a small town,
Jay becomes the top agent who cant keep any of his
new partners for long. He even gets to work with a belligerent
talking dog for a while until he is sent to retrieve agent
Kay by MIB chief Zed (Rip Torn).
The
reason the old team is back together again is because Agent
Kay is the only one who possesses the key to stopping Serleena.
That is if they can bring his memory back before time runs
out for all humanity.
Since
being neuralized, Agent Kay cant recognize even his
old side kick Jay and it takes a while to bring him back
to his old self. Once that s done its a race
against the clock to save the world from destruction.
Some
familiar creatures are brought back such as Frank the Pug,
Jeebs the alien Pawnshop owner and the macho Worn Guys.
There are naturally new grotesque creatures that include
Flap Jack, Pineal Eye, Bird and Corn Face.
The
theme of big bizarre designer guns, black suits and dark
glasses is in full splendor throughout the movie and is
put to good use most of the time.
Director
Barry Sonnenfeld fires at you a joke a minute but only hits
the funny bone about 20 percent of the time.
Even
though Men in Black 2 seem a little water downed from the
original, it still should please die hard fans and kids.
Its silly and ridiculous providing by and large minor
laughs that most of you might find amusing but not exceptional
in any way.
