Scooby
Doo Movie Review:
If you
are familiar with the cartoon Scooby Doo, now comes a live
version children comedy by the same name. Freddie Prinze
Jr. plays arrogant in-love-with-himself but means well Fred
Jones, Sarah Michelle Gellar plays arrogant in-love-with-herself
but means well Daphne Blake, Matthew Lillard is the silly
Norville Shaggy Rogers, Linda Cardellini is
nerdy but super smart Velma Dinkley and finally Scott Innes
is the voice of the computer generated Scooby Doo.
Together
they are a super crime fighting team who dont necessarily
get along. As the movie starts the all split up and go their
separate ways after a big fight regarding not sharing credit
for solving a case.
When
they are brought together again to solve some strange mysterious
happenings on a scary amusement park, they start to put
their differences aside and be a team.
Rowan
Atkinson plays the theme park owner Mondavarious and Andres
Bryniarski plays Henchman.
All
these cast is put into a very silly movie that is hardly
amusing and very stupid to boot. It might appeal to really
young kids but most adults will be bored with it early on
and it is pretty much downhill form there.
The
acting is way over the top and not effective except for
maybe Shaggy and Velma. The only amusing moment that might
work for adults is the crazy maniacal character of Scrappy
Doo played by J.P. Manoux.
Scooby
Doo has a feel of an uninteresting and foolish aged amusement
park ride that you cant wait to walk away from and
forget.
If only
it was really funny you could perhaps forgive the tacky
sets, bad dialogue and uninteresting story. But no such
luck here. Scooby Doo would probably scream Get me
out of hereeee
!
